Mumbai, January 23: Hours after the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday arrested nine men allegedly aligned with ISIS, it was found that those arrested include a football coach, a computer engineer, a civil engineer and a cyber expert. After receiving inputs about the group, the ATS mounted a watch on the suspects and gathered all relevant information about the members of the group. During the searches, ATS also seized certain chemicals, powder, mobile phones, hard drives, SIM cards, acid bottle, and sharp knives. The nine men arrested for alleged terror links from Maharashtra’s Mumbra, Thane and Aurangabad on Tuesday also include one teenager. The ATS in its statement said, "We formed about a dozen teams and carried out well-equipped searches and seizures at 5 different locations in Mumbra, district Thane and Aurangabad simultaneously during the intervening night and early morning Tuesday". According to a report by Hindustan Times, three of the nine men are brothers whose main task was to recruit and radicalise young men.
According to a report by ANI, four suspects were arrested from Aurangabad whereas five were arrested from Mumbra, Thane. A case has been registered against the suspects under sections 120 (B) IPC, 19,20, 38,39 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 read with its latest amendments and 135 Bombay Police Act.
