New Delhi, September 20: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday opposed the bail plea of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the Delhi High Court in the INX Media case. The hearing on the bail plea is scheduled to be held on September 23. Chidambaram was arrested on August 21 by officials of the CBI. His plea challenging the arrest was rejected by the Supreme Court. Chidambaram was the Finance Minister when the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) gave Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) clearance to INX Media in 2007. The CBI had registered an FIR on May 15, 2017. Thereafter, the ED lodged a money laundering case against him in the same year.
