New Delhi, December 19: Internet services were reportedly suspended in parts of Delhi amid massive protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Not just the internet, SMS services have also been suspended in some areas. Responding to a query of an Airtel user in Delhi, the network company confirmed that it has recieved orders from the government to shut internet and SMS services. Danish Khan, a resident of North East Delhi, complained about internet blockade tagging Airtel on Twitter. Replying to Khan, Airtel wrote: "Hi, Danish! Like we spoke, as per instructions from govt. authorities, Voice, internet and SMS services are currently suspended in your location. Once the suspension orders are lifted, our services will be fully up and running. We’re sorry about the inconvenience. Thanks for your support! "We are complying with instructions received from govt. authorities on suspending Voice, SMS and data in certain areas in #Delhi. Once the suspension orders are lifted, our services will be fully up and running," Airtel said in a statement. As people fear for losing internet, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said they can use free wifi around the ITO area.

"After 1 pm you can use #AAPKaFreeWifi around ITO area. This while Modi ji has shut down internet services in the area," an AAP supporter tweeted. AAP Offers Free Wifi Near ITO in Delhi:

A march has been organised against the Citizenship Amendment Act from Lal Quila to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park (ITO). Another march is planned by the Left from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar against the CAA and the proposed nationwide National Register of Citizens (NRC). Police, however, have not granted permission for both the protests. In a bid to stop protesters from reaching these areas, metro services have also been suspended at over one dozen stations.
