INS Arihant Completes Its First Deterrence Patrol; Makes India a ‘Nuclear Triad’ Country

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced that India’s Nuclear submarine (INS) Arihant has successfully completed its first deterrence patrol.

New Delhi, November 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced that India’s Nuclear Submarine (INS) Arihant has successfully completed its first deterrence patrol. He congratulated all crew of INS Arihant for the "accomplishment, which will always be remembered in our history". With Arihant successfully completing its patrol, India now has a dependable 'nuclear triad'. Nuclear triad means that the country has the capability of carrying nuclear operations from land, sea and air. Indian Navy Augments Submarine Rescue Capability.

In a series of a tweet, PM Modi said, "Dhanteras gets even more special! India’s pride, nuclear submarine INS Arihant successfully completed its first deterrence patrol! I congratulate all those involved, especially the crew of INS Arihant for this accomplishment, which will always be remembered in our history."

He further wrote, "The success of INS Arihant enhances India’s security needs. It is a major achievement for our entire nation. True to its name, INS Arihant will protect the 130 crore Indians from external threats and contribute to the atmosphere of peace in the region."

The Prime Minister extended his greetings to the participants and their families on the occasion of Dhanteras. He expressed his hope that just like light dispels darkness and fear, INS Arihant will be a harbinger of fearlessness for the country. The 6000-tonne Submarine was under development for several years under the direct control of the Nuclear Command Authority headed by PM Modi.
