Mumbai, May 8: After keeping it a secret for quite some time now, the news that tech giant Infosys in Telangana is taking parking fees from its employees has come out in open! According to a report by The Hindu, the software major has been deducting Rs 250 per month for two-wheelers, and Rs 500 per month for cars, from the salaries of its employees. An employee, on request of anonymity, claimed that it is true that Infosys has been deducting money from salary accounts. The employee further added saying that some of them have spoken about it to their internal communications and have raised the issue privately, but no action has been taken in this regard. Another employee was quoted in the report saying that few years ago, this was not the case but now, it was found that the company is deducting money, which they claim, is going into a welfare trust or fund. Infosys Blames H1B Visa Denials For High Employee Attrition.

According to the report, the issue was brought to the attention of activist Vijay Gopal from The Forum Against Corruption, who has raised the concern with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Labour Department of the Telangana government. The report adds saying that Infosys spokesperson in a letter, had stated that the charges collected from the employees as a deduction from salary, is accounted as a fund with the Infosys Employees Welfare Trust which utilises the same for maintenance and upkeep of the parking facility.
