Noida, July 27: In a shocking case of female infanticide, a 22-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly murdering her 9-day-old daughter in Delhi. The woman reportedly murdered her infant child because she wanted a son instead of a daughter.
According to a report published by The New Indian Express, the incident came to light when the father of the victim reported to the Mundka police station that his wife had slit the throat of their newborn daughter. The police, led by DCP (Outer) Jimmy Chiram, immediately responded to the report and arrived at the crime scene located at H.No. 60, Shiv Mandir Street, Baba Haridas Colony, Tikri. Woman Slits Throat of Infant Daughter in Infanticide Case in Delhi
Upon arrival, the police found the deceased girl in a room on the second floor while the accused woman was in another room. The forensic team was called to examine the scene, and the knife used in the crime was recovered. The woman was apprehended, and during interrogation, she confessed to killing her daughter because she did not want a girl child. The deceased baby was the couple’s second child. The father of the murdered child, a labourer in a shoe factory in Bahadurgarh, had moved to Delhi in 2019 with his brother and mother. The family lived together at the location where the crime occurred. The couple also has a 2-year-old son. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the law, and the accused woman has been placed under judicial custody.
