Mumbai, Sep 18: Indrani Mukerjea and her husband Peter Mukerjea, both accused in Sheena Bora murder case, filed for a mutual consent divorce in Bandra family court on Tuesday. The court set March 25 as next day for order on divorce plea of Indrani and Peter Mukerjea. Indrani and Peter got married on November 8, 2002. Earlier, a special CBI court allowed the jailed couple to file a mutual plea to end their 16-year-old marriage.
Before filing for divorce, Indrani wrote a letter to Peter in which she asked candles, bedside lamps, furniture, soft furnishings, jewellery, religious objects, artworks and keys to a safe. “Any other items, i.e. the items that are in the list in the divorce petition that I have not put in this list as yet, I may request at a later date," Indrani stated in her letter, according to Peter's lawyer Edith Day.
Indrani and Peter facing trial for allegedly killing Sheena Bora, her daughter from a previous husband Sanjeev Kumar. According to the police, Sheena Bora was murdered, and her body disposed of in a forest area in the neighbouring Raigad district in April 2012. Indrani's former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai are also named as accused in the crime which was unearthed in August 2015. Rai later became a witness in the case. The CBI had said Bora was killed over a financial dispute. The agency later arrested Indrani’s husband, Peter Mukerjea for allegedly being part of the murder conspiracy.
