Hyderabad, December 31: Indrakeeladri Temple, also referred to as Kanaka Durga Temple in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada, is all set to implement a dress code for devotees from 1st January, 2019. According to a tweet by ANI, Koteswaramma, Executive Officer said that every devotee has to follow the dress code norm, adding that any failure to do so, a devotee will not be allowed to visit the temple. With the new dress code order in place, ladies will have to wear either sarees, lehenga and blouse or some traditional dress.
Koteswaramma added saying that those who are unaware of this norm, the authority will provide them Amma saree for Rs. 100. She further informed that the temple authorities are also making arrangements for dress-changing rooms as well. Earlier in October, the Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna had announced a rigid dress code banning jeans pant, trousers for all its devotees. With the new rule, only men wearing dhoti would be allowed to enter the temple. Meanwhile, women devotees visiting the temple are allowed only in salwar suit and saree and won't be allowed if they come wearing jeans pant.
In a separate diktat, Kolhapur's famous Mahalaxmi temple issued an order saying it won't allow girls, women and men to enter the sanctum of Goddess Mahalaxmi Temple wearing shorts and mini-skirts from October 10. The order was issued for the ten-day Sharidiya Navaratri festival.
