IndiGo Cancels 30 Flights on Tuesday, Airline Says More Cancellations Likely in Coming Days Due to Weather Disruptions

New Delhi, February 13: Passengers flying with budget-carrier IndiGo are likely to face inconvenience in the coming days as the airline on Tuesday said that it plans to curtail services of about 30 flights on a daily basis. On February 12, IndiGo, in a press statement said it will 'slightly adjust' its flight schedule in the coming days, impacting about 30 flights a day. These adjustments amount to 1-2 per cent of the originally planned number of flights.” IndiGo Likely to Cancel 32 More Flights on Monday Due to Shortage of Pilots. 

IndiGo further added that this is being done to stabilise the network and operations impacted due to various ongoing Notice to Airmen and predicted bad weather in the coming days. In order to avoid inconvenience, the statement said the passengers are being accommodated close to their original flight schedules, a report by PTI said. According to reports, industry sources believe that the disruption in services are likely because the airline was also facing a shortage of pilots. IndiGo 'Worst' Airline Service, Ranks Parliamentary Committee, Cites 'Rude Staff, High Fares' Among Reasons. 

IndiGo, with its fleet of over 200 aircraft, operates over 1,300 flights on a daily basis. The airline connects 52 domestic and 16 international destinations. According to a PTI report, the shortage of pilots continued to hamper operations with the budget carrier cancelling as many as 30 flights from across major airports on Monday and Tuesday.

In March last year, IndiGo grounded 11 Airbus A-320 neo aircraft powered by certain Pratt and Whitney engines following instances of engine failures during flights.
