An IndiGo Airbus flying from Jaipur to Kolkata made a safe emergency landing in the city on Monday night, December 10, after the aircraft was filled with smoke on the air. Soon as it landed, reportedly, a few passengers had to make their exit using emergency chutes. As it is mentioned already, none of the travellers was affected while the pilot made an emergency landing. The reason behind the occurrence of the smoke is not known yet, and the regulatory agencies are looking after this issue. Two IndiGo Planes Come Face To Face Mid-Air In Bengaluru, Narrow Escape For Passengers As Crash Averted.

TOI quoted an unidentified close source which informed that the smoke was seen when the A320 Neo (new engine option) was about 70 km away from its destination. It further reported, “The plane had smoke in cockpit, cabin and lavatory. The pilots asked or emergency call.” The IndiGo Airbus A320 Neo landed at 10:31 pm last night. One of the air flight spokespersons said, “6E-237 operating on Jaipur-Kolkata route made an emergency landing as a precaution at Kolkata due to suspected smoke in cabin. The flight landed safely at Kolkata. On reaching the bay a few passengers evacuated via the aft exit deployed slides, most passengers deplaned via front step ladder. There was no earlier report of any malfunction with the airplane.” IndiGo Woes Continue! Bengaluru-Vijaywada 6E-7204 Flight Skids Off The Runway During Landing in Vijayawada.

Reports on the cause of the smoke are still awaited. If we go by media reports, recently IndiGo passengers are facing many scares during their journey. Last month too, an IndiGo Airbus Neo flying from Hyderabad to Port Blair suffered a sudden snag causing the plane to tilt to the other side for some time till the pilots managed to level the aircraft. However, the airline denied that any such event was occurred and termed it as “false news.”
