Chandigarh, January 3: The country's tallest Ashok Chakra replica with a diameter of 30 feet is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 5 in Topra Kalan village of Haryana's Yamunanagar district. According to Hindustan Times report, Rajya Sabha member Subhash Chandra and local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Shyam Singh Rana will unveil the Chakra. The replica made with 90 quintal metal is placed on the 8-feet high platform. The Chakra will be a part of Ashokan Edicts Park which will be set by the Haryana Tourism Department in association  with NGO 'Buddhist Forum' led by Sidhartha Gauri and Dr Satyadeep Neil Gauri.

Dr Rajpal Singh, a retired professor from MLN College said that Topra Kalan village has historical importance because, during the reign of Emperor Ashoka, a pillar was erected in the village, but in the 14th century, Feroz Shah Tughlaq transported it to Delhi and now the pillar is standing in Kotla.

“The motive behind Ashokan Edicts Park is to make the coming generations aware about Samrat Ashoka,” said Sidhartha Gauri while speaking to Hindustan Times. He further added the total cost of the entire project would be Rs 100 crores while the construction of Chakra will cost Rs 40 lakhs.
