Indian Railways Planning Vande Bharat-Type Trains From Mumbai To Pune, Nashik and Baroda, Trial Runs to Begin Next Week
The travel time between Mumbai to Nashik and Mumbai-Vadodara will reduce to two hours and four hours respectively as the Indian Railway will carry out trial runs of Vande Bharat Express in this routes from next week.
Mumbai, June 5: The travel time between Mumbai to Nashik and Mumbai-Vadodara may reduce to two hours and four hours respectively as the Indian Railways are planning to carry out trial runs of Vande Bharat Express-type trains in this routes from next week. According to a PTI report, Rajesh Agarwal, member (Rolling Stock) of Railway Board said that "One AC EMU rake and one non-AC EMU rake" has been brought in Mumbai for trial runs. Agarwal said that the "trials will start in Mumbai very soon, like next week. Then we can see how we can shorten the timings between these cities." The Vande Bharat Express has reduced the travel time between Delhi to Varanasi route by 40 per cent due to which the train services are always fully booked. Similarly, If every this goes as per the plan, the travel time between Mumbai to Pune and Nashik will be under two hours. He also said that the travel time between Gujarat's Baroda and the financial capital city will be reduced to just four hours.

Agarwal also said that by the end of March 2020, the railway will run 12 AC coaches in Mumbai, six each in Western and Central suburban lines. "We have no shortage of coaches as the coach production has seen a quantum jump...Till previous year, all coach factories used to produce less than 4,000 coaches annually and this year the number has been scaled up to 6,000. Next year our target is to produce 8,000 coaches," he said.
