Mumbai, September 26: With just days remaining for the celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary on October 2, Indian Railways have come up with new plans to painted Diesel Locomotives with the Mahatma Gandhi’s picture on the backdrop of the National tricolour. Already 15 painted locos are plying between Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Konkan route.
According to a tweet shared on social media by Indian Railways, the public sector organisation has started 15 painted diesel locomotives are on the Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Konkan route, while the work of painting seven more locos is in progress. Through this initiative, the Railways is dedicating its services and affection for the "Father of the Nation". This is not the first time, Indian Railways had done something like this to commemorate the birth anniversary of renowned people. It had earlier decorated the major stations like Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminals on special occasions like Independence Day and Republic Day.
