Paradip, November 24: Indian Naval Warships -INS Gharial and INS Rana- were kept open for the public at Odisha's Paradip port on Sunday as a part of Indian Navy Day 2019 celebrations on December 4. According to reports, the Indian Naval Ships will be open for the general public on Monday too. Those visiting have to go through the security check at Gopabandhu Stadium. From there, they will be taken to the prohibited region of Paradip port to see the warships.

INS Gharial is Magar-class warship, one of the largest ships of the Indian Navy. INS Rana is a "Rajput-class" destroyer commission with Indian Navy since June 1982. Indian Navy Organises Day-long Medical Camp at Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour.

Every year, Navy Day in India is celebrated on December 4 to recognise the role of the Indian Navy in the country. This day was chosen to celebrate Navy Day in 1971 as the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani vessels, killing hundreds of Pakistani Navy personnel.

The Indian Navy plays an important role in securing the marine borders of the country. It also maintains international relations through seaport visits, joint exercises and so on. The strength of India Navy is over 65,000 personnel and about 150 ships and submarines.
