Jammu, June 2: After guests invited at Iftar party hosted by Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan were harassed, India has reportedly decided to raise the matter with Islamabad. On Saturday, guests, who arrived at the Iftar party were "aggressively" turned away by Pakistani officials. Omar Abdullah, National Conference vice-president and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir reacted to the Iftar party row and said that the harassment of guests at the Iftar party was stupid ‘tit for tat’ diplomacy. Abdullah urged both the countries- India and Pakistan to "stop this nonsense".

Abdullah criticised the Pakistani side and said it’s time to move on and stop this nonsense. "Stupid tit for tat diplomacy. It was stupid when we did it outside the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi & it's stupid when it's done outside our's in Islamabad. Now that it's 1-1 perhaps it's time to move on & stop this nonsense”, he tweeted. Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Apologises for Turning Away Guests by Pak Officials at Iftar Party in Islamabad.

Here's the tweet:

Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria on Saturday had hosted the annual event at Serena Hotel in Islamabad for which guests were invited from all over Pakistan. However, the guests who came to the party were harassed by Pakistani officials. The guests claimed that they reportedly faced "unprecedented level of harassment" due to enhanced security checks by the Pakistani officials. The guests claimed that additional security deployment was made around the luxury hotel.

According to sources, Pakistani agencies virtually laid a siege on Hotel Serena on Saturday, harassed, intimidated and turned back hundreds of guests. After the incident sparked a row, Bisaria apologised saying "such intimidatory tactics" are "counter-productive" for bilateral relations. "We apologise to all our guests who were aggressively turned away from our Iftar party last evening. Such intimidatory tactics are deeply disappointing. They not only violate basic norms of diplomatic conduct and civilised behaviour, but are also counter-productive for our bilateral relations," he said.
