Indian Dies in Dubai: Manjot Singh From Punjab's Ludhiana Answers Pakistani Roommate's Call for Help, Gets Killed in Fight
A man from Lohatbaddi village in Ludhiana district of Punjab was murdered in Dubai during a fight allegedly by Pakistani nationals. The 21-year-old's body is expected to arrive in India by Friday, July 12.
Ludhiana, July 10: An Indian man from Ludhiana, Punjab, was attacked and murdered with sharp-edged weapons in Dubai in June, allegedly by 12 Pakistani attackers, while helping his Pakistani roommate during a fight. The dead body of the 21-year-old Manjot Singh is reportedly expected to reach Lohatbaddi village in Ludhiana district, his hometown, on Friday, July 12. The deceased used to work as a labourer at a Pharmaceutical company.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Manjot Singh’s father, Diljit Singh, said his son was residing with five roommates in a rented accommodation in the Jebel Ali area of Dubai. The horrifying incident reportedly occurred on June 21, but the family only learned about it later when the victim stopped answering their calls. “Later, his friends told us about the clash and said that a group of Pakistani men attacked my son with a knife and other sharp-edged weapons. It was reported that Manjot's Pakistani roommate got into a confrontation with a group of 12 other Pakistanis who had come from outside. He reached out to Manjot for help. When Manjot went to help his Pakistani roommate, the rival group attacked him with a knife, leading to his tragic death. Authorities have informed Diljit that three accused involved in the incident have been arrested. The grieving father added that he had taken a loan of INR 2 lakh to send his son abroad. India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has informed the victim's family that his body is expected to come to India by July 12. His roommate has also suffered injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital in Dubai.
