Indian Army Test Fires Anti-Tank Guided Missile During Live Firing Training Exercise

New Delhi, March 2: The Indian Army on Friday conducted a successful test firing of an anti-tank guided missile during a live firing training exercise. The Eastern Command conducted the live firing training exercise for its troops during which an anti-tank guided missile detachment fired at a mock target. The official Twitter handle of the Eastern Command shared pictures of the test firing of an anti-tank guided missile.

"Anti Tank Guided Missile detachments of #IndianArmy hone their skills during live firing exercise at a Field Firing Range (sic)," read a tweet by the Eastern Command. Sharing images, the tweet also has a quote of Greek poet Archilochos - We don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training. In January,  Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman approved Rs 40,000 crore worth proposal to build six bigger submarines for the Navy and 5,000 anti-tank Milan 2T missiles for the Army. “The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by the Defence minister approved Rs 40,0000 crore Navy proposal for the six submarines along with the Army’s proposal to acquire 5,000 Milan 2T anti-tank guided missiles,” Defence Ministry spokesperson said.

The French-origin anti-tank guided missiles for the Army would help in bridging the gap in the requirement of the Force which is short of almost 70,000 of these missiles.
