Indian Army Raids House of PDP Leader in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama District
The house of a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader’s was raided by army personnel at Naira village in Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Pulwama, July 26: The house of a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader’s was raided by army personnel at Naira village in Pulwama district on Wednesday. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, Waheed Para, president of the PDP’s youth wing, was not home at the time of the raid. Para’s family members informed him about the raid. The Army surrounded his house with bulletproof vehicles.
The PDP leader raised an objection to this raid. After the raid he met top police and Army officers. According to the report, police were unaware of the raid. A senior army officer told Hindustan Times that it was just part of a random search operation in the village. The officer said that they had carried out search operations and left the village.
Para claimed that he got a call from his family around 1am to inform him about the raid. “They searched all the rooms of the house and left only after an hour when the police arrived. They couldn’t find anything in the house,” reported Hindustan Times quoting Para as saying. After Mehbooba stepped down from the post of chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Para also resigned as secretary of the state sports council. In June, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had broken alliance with PDP resulting in governor rule in the state.
