Srinagar, December 20: In response to Pakistan's continuous ceasefire violations and shelling in Poonch and Rajouri districts, where they targeted civilian areas, the Indian Army gave a befitting reply to the nefarious actions of Pakistani troops. In the Tattapani and Kupwara sectors, Indian army destroyed several terror launch pads, Amar Ujala reported. Pakistan’s Brigade Headquarters and SSG Centre was also hit in retaliatory shelling. According to a report in Daily Excelsior, over a dozen casualties, including Pakistan troops and terrorists, were neutralised. India's retaliatory action was necessitated as there was a major attempt to infiltrate a large number of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists in the Indian side, the report said. Meanwhile, the Indian Army has not issued any official statement.
On Wednesday, Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said that the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) could escalate anytime. "The Indian Army is always ready for escalatory matrix,” he said at an event in New Delhi. His remark comes in view of increasing ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC since the Indian government revoked Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two union territories on August 5.
