Srinagar, Sept 23: An infiltration bid by Pakistan-based cross-border militants was foiled by the Indian Army. At least two terrorists were reported to be killed by the Indian forces, while foiling their bid to the intrude into Jammu & Kashmir's Kupwara sector.

According to news agency ANI, the infiltration bid was intercepted in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara, located in North Kashmir. This comes a day after a ceasefire violation was reported in the same border region of Kupwara. Two Intruders Caught Near LoC in Lam Sector, One Gunned Down by Army.

Indian Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat, while addressing the press on Saturday, reiterated the need to retaliate to Pakistan by inflicting an equivalent amount of pain.

"We need to take stern action to avenge the kind of barbarism that terrorists and the Pakistan Army have been carrying against our soldiers. It is time to give it back to them in the same coin but not by resorting to similar kind of barbarism," Gen Rawat said.

The border turbulence has led to the cancelation of a meeting scheduled between Indian and Pakistani Foreign Ministers in New York at the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

A day after accepting Pakistan's proposal for the meet, India on Friday decided to retract from the dialogue, citing the killing of a BSF jawan by Pakistani forces, along with the release of postal stamps by Islamabad honouring slain Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani.
