Srinagar, September 4: The Indian Army on Wednesday claimed to have foiled a major infiltration bid in Jammu & Kashmir, with two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives being taken into custody. The identity of the detainees was yet to be revealed. They were arrested while attempting to illegally infiltrate into J&K after crossing the Line of Control (LoC), said Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon.
"We have taken into custody two suspects who have infiltrated into our territory. An infiltration bid was planned by Pakistan to create instability in the region of Jammu and Kashmir," Dhillon said. The Army, he added, is vigilant and will thwart all attempts made by the cross-border forces to fuel insurgency in the frontier state. "In the days to come, there could be an attack in Jammu & Kashmir as there is resentment among the people. India will pin the blame on Pakistan, and then carry out an attack in Azad Kashmir (PoK) similar to Balakot. If that happens, we will have no other option but to give a befitting reply," Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said, while addressing the Kashmir Hour rally in Islamabad on Friday.
New Delhi, on the other hand, has accused Pakistan of attempting to stoke unrest and anxiety in Kashmir. "There is normalcy in the Valley.
