Srinagar, August 14: The Indian Army on Tuesday night foiled a major infiltration attempt of terrorists by the Pakistan Army in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir last night, reported news agency ANI. The infiltration push was backed by heavy firing from Pakistan Army posts, said reports. That the infiltration bid took place just two days ahead of the Independence Day, makes the development at the border a matter of concern. Indian Armed Forces Prepared to Deal With Any Threat from Pakistan, Says Army Chief Bipin Rawat.

The Pakistani Army was behind the infiltration push, reported ANI. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that Pakistan is ready for their "freedom" of Kashmir after Indian government scrapped Article 370.

The attempt of Pakistan Army was to push a group of terrorist into India to unleash violence in Jammu and Kashmir, said reports.

The Indian Army said that it is ready and alert to tackle any external threat or security concerns from across the border.

Army chief General Bipin Rawat said on Tuesday that the Army is committed to maintain cordial relations with the general public of Jammu and Kashmir even as the armed forces are prepared to deal with any threat from Pakistan.
