Indian Army, Air Force, Navy to Address Joint Press Meet at 7 PM Today Amid India-Pakistan Tensions
The joint press meet by the Chief of Indian Army, Air Force and Navy will take place at 7 pm in New Delhi after IAF pilot arrested by Pakistan and Imran Khan announced his release.
New Delhi, February 28: Amid tensions escalating between India and Pakistan after the Pulwana terror attacks and follow-ups by India, the chief of three lines of Defence – Army, Air Force and Navy – will brief the press in the national capital on Thursday at 7 pm. The announcement comes after Pakistan Premier Imran Khan announced in their national assembly that they would release the captive IAF pilot on Friday. Earlier, the Pakistani armed forces have arrested the IAF pilot on Wednesday, after his MiG crashed in PoK following an air combat with PAF's F-16 fighter jet in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Previously, Pakistan Premier Imran Khan had claimed to have captured an Indian Air Force pilot in PoK, who was on board to chase the PAF F-16 fighter jet entering in the Indian aerospace on Wednesday. Though the IAF pilot hit the F-16, his own MiG 21 was also crashed and was captured after landing in the Pok area. With the Indian spokesperson at Union External Affairs Ministry, had Raveesh Kumar confirmed that the pilot is ‘missing in action’, the news was later confirmed that IAF pilot was captured by Pakistani armed forces. The Indian government has summoned Pakistan envoy to India and had reprimanded him for taking stringent action against terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad, engaged itself in Pulwama terror attack on February 14. The Indian government also reminded the Pakistani counterpart that ‘Indian reserves the right to take firm and decisive action to protect its national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity against any act of aggression or cross border terrorism. Also, it asked Pakistan would treat the IAF pilot under 1949 third Geneva Convention’s Article 118 in regards to the Prisoners at War.
