Srinagar, February 27: India on Wednesday retaliated to ceasefire violation by Pakistan a day after the Indian Air Force (IAF) strikes on Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) camps along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakot. According to reports, the Indian armed forces decimated five Pakistani posts after Pakistan resorted to ceasefire violation at multiple locations. The action by the Indian Army came after Pakistan on Tuesday violated ceasefire and resorted to heavy shelling at around 12 to 15 places along the LoC, leaving five Indian Army personnel injured. As per the Indian Army, retaliatory firing resulted in severe destruction and a number of casualties to Pakistan Army personnel. Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Along LoC, 5 Army Personnel Injured.

Pakistani troops were seen firing mortars and missiles from civilian houses, using villagers as human shields. The ceasefire violation by Pakistan came after the Indian Air Force destroyed Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) camps across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan on the intersecting night of February 25 and 26, killing hundreds of terrorists. Reports say that 12 Mirage 2000 jets took part in the operation that dropped almost 1000 Kg bombs on terror camps across the LOC and destroyed them.

The strikes were seen as India's action to avenge the death of 40 CRPF jawans who were martyred in a terror attack in Pulwama on February 14. The attack was carried out by a JeM terrorist.
