India Reports Highest Ever Single-Day Coronavirus Recoveries As 28,472 COVID-19 Patients Discharged in Past 24 Hours
Giving details of the recoveries in the country, the Ministry said that more than 7.5 lakh COVID-19 patients have recovered so far and the recovery rate has now crossed 63 percent. New Delhi, July 22: India on Wednesday reported the highest ever single-day coronavirus recoveries in the last 24 hours as a record 28,472 COVID-19 patients were discharged across the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. Giving details of the recoveries in the country, the Ministry said that more than 7.5 lakh COVID-19 patients have recovered so far and the recovery rate has now crossed 63 percent. The COVID-19 recovery rate in India stood at 63.12 per cent with as many as 7,53,050 cured, which is almost twice the number of active patients at 4,11,133. The Health Ministry added saying that 19 States/UTs register higher than 63.13% recovery rate.
The COVID-19 tally in India moved closer to 12 lakh-mark with a spike of 37,724 fresh coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours. The tally in the country is barely 7,000 short of the 12-lakh-mark, with the total coronavirus cases at 11,92,915. A total of 648 new deaths were reported, pushing the death toll to 28,732.

India is the third-worst hit country by coronavirus after US and Brazil. Over the last few days, India is adding a lakh cases every three days. On Monday, the country had crossed the 11-lakh mark. The states that are the worst affected include Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Maharashtra reported 3,27,031 cases and 12,276 deaths followed by Tamil Nadu with total 1,80,643 cases, and 2,626 deaths. Karnataka, the new hotspot state, crossed 71,000 cases while Gujarat has 50,379 cases.
The global COVID-19 cases increased to over 14.8 million, while the deaths have topped to more than 615,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University. The total number of cases stood at 14,898,145, while the fatalities rose to 615,462. The US accounted for the world's highest number of infections and fatalities at 3,899,072 and 141,992.
