New Delhi, June 30: The string of incidents reflecting diplomatic hostility between India and Pakistan appears to continue as a domestic help working for India's defence attache in Islamabad was "forced" to abort work by the Pakistani authorities.

The defence attache has raised the matter with Pakistan Foreign Office, calling it a ploy by a section of authorities to harass the Indian diplomats posted on its soil.

The fresh spat over domestic help erupted a couple of months after New Delhi and Islamabad reached an understanding to strictly adhere to the 1992 Code of Conduct meant to ensure "smooth and unhindered functioning of their diplomatic and consular officials in conformity with recognised norms of international law and practice".

The mutual agreement was made by the Indian and Pakistani foreign ministries after the two sides alleged attacks on each other's diplomats in Delhi and Islamabad.

Incidents of hostilities so far:

In December last year, Pakistan alleged one of its visiting lady diplomat was provided with inadequate security by the Indian government, which led to the "robbing of her handbag".

In January, an Indian air adviser was detained at Islamabad airport for not carrying his identity card. The diplomat was ill-treated and kept in a detention for a while despite pointing out that the Pakistan Foreign Office is yet to issue him a fresh ID after his old identification card expired.

In January, Pakistan alleged one of its diplomats' cars was hounded by hooligans in Delhi, who also broke the windows and attempted to assault him.

New Delhi, meanwhile, had retaliated saying the internet line of their diplomats in Islamabad was being frequently disrupted to cause inconvenience.

In April, a junior staff posted in the Indian embassy was recalled by New Delhi after an alleged failed bid by the ISI to extract information from him.

In the past week, the diplomatic row escalated after Pakistan allegedly prevented Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria to visit Gurudwara Panja Sahib at Hasan Abdal. New Delhi has accused Islamabad of fanning secessionist sentiments - a charge which Pakistan has rejected.
