Sukma, August 15: A Naxal-affected village in Chhattisgarh unfurled the tricolour on Independence Day for the first time in 73-years since India attained freedom. The Kasalpada village had never hoisted the national flag on Independence Day. This year, security forces deployed in Kasalpada decided to unfurl the tricolour along with locals.
On Wednesday, troops of 206 CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) and 150 battalion of CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) were targetted in Chintagufa near Kasalpada. No security personnel was injured. The troops then decided to celebrate the Independence Day in Kasalpada itself, news agency ANI reported. Security forces along with locals on Thursday unfurled the national flag at Kasalpad village. In December 2014, 14 CRPF personnel lost their lives in an attack by Naxals in Kasalpada.
