Agra, August 15: With the Indians celebrating the 73rd Independence Day on Thursday, Agra District Jail released 21 prisoners who completed their sentence but were serving extra time for not being able to pay penalties imposed on them by the court. Their penalties were paid by a businessman Rajesh Sehgal.
According to a report, businessman Rajesh Sehgal paid a penalty worth Rs 1,73,000, after which 21 prisoners in Agra District Jail were freed on the 73rd Independence Day. All these prisoners were held in jail even after completion of their term in the jail. Reacting on this incident, Shashikant Mishra, Superintendent of Agra District Jail said: We are thankful to Rajesh Sehgal Ji. Because of him, the 21 prisoners are able to celebrate Raksha Bandhan and IndependenceDay with their family." Along with Independence Day, Indians are also celebrating Rakhsha Bandhan on Thursday, where sisters are tying rakhis on their brother's wrist.
