Shahdol, January 19: Exchange of messages before the 2018 Assembly elections between two bureaucrats is going viral on social media. A WhatsApp chat between Shahdol district collector Anubha Srivastava and Deputy Collector Puja Tiwari, in which the former asked the latter to ensure the Bharatiya Janata Party's victory in Shahdol assembly seat, if she wants to become Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018: Kamal Nath's Video on Muslim Appeasement Goes Viral.

After the controversial messages went viral, Tiwari filed a police complaint with the Kotwali police station in Shahdol, alleging the messages in question were "fake". Acting on the complaint police have arrested an accused. "The unidentified accused was booked under IT Act on Wednesday on the complaint of Tiwari and investigations are underway," district additional superintendent of police (ASP) Praveen Bhuria said to PTI.

According to the viral message, following alleged conversation is said to have taken place between the two:

Deputy Collector: Mam 2 sector mai situation control hai but Jaitpur ki nai ho par rahi, Congress leader ban raha hai and Uma Dhuve ka samarthan kafi hai. (Mam, in Sector 2 the situation is under control but in Jaitpur that is not happening. Congress is building the lead and Uma Dhurve has many supporters)."

Collector: Mujhe Congress Clean swipe chahea, mai RO dheriya ko phone kar rahi hu, Pooja tume SDM ka charge lena hai to BJP ko win karao (I want clean sweep of Congress party. I am calling the RO of Dehariya. Pooja, if you want the charge of SDM, then make BJP win)"

Deputy Collector: ok, mam mai manage karti hu, koi enquiry toh nai hogi (Ok, Mam I'II manage but there won't be any enquiry?)."

Collector: mai hu, mehnai kar rahu ho toh BJP government bante hi tume SDM ka charge mila (I am there. If you work hard, as soon as BJP comes to power, you will be made SDM)."

The former Congress MLA Rampal Singh told media on Friday that, "We are going to write to the Election Commission to remove the collector and hold a re-poll in Jaitpur district." He added, "We want re-poll in Jaitpur. The incident is very serious."

Meanwhile, the elections in Madhya Pradesh took place on 28 November 2018. The results were declared on 11 December along with the Legislative Assembly Elections results of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram, and Telangana. In Madhya Pradesh Congress won 114 seats out of 230 seats in the state.
