Hyderabad teenager was allegedly burnt alive by his teen friend for not sharing his smartphone. A 19-year-old boy attacked his 17-year-old friend with a stick and burnt him because he wanted to clear off his financial debts, the police said on Tuesday. The accused, G Prem Sagar has confessed to the crime after being arrested by the Hyderabad police.

Explaining the turn of events, the police said, Sagar picked his friend D Prem from Uppal and took him 25km away to an isolated place in Adibatla where he attacked him with a stick before setting him ablaze. Police officer Malkajgiri said, "The accused picked Prem up on the pretext of taking him for a long drive on his motorcycle. After reaching Adibatla, the accused took the minor to an isolated area and attacked him with a stick on his head." When the boy fell unconscious, Sagar poured petrol on him and burnt his friend alive. The minor died on the spot, the police officer added.

Prem's family had filed a police complaint on July 14 when he did not return home, which led to an investigation. After police questioned Sagar, he admitted killing Prem for not sharing his smartphone with him, with which he wanted to clear his debts. Sagar has been charged under Sections 302, 364 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code and sent to judicial remand. In another case, a Hyderabad cab driver killed his friend as he was allegedly peeping into his mother's bathroom. The accused surrendered to the police.
