Islamabad, May 3: In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan had pitched for the resumption of talks between the two neighbours. The Pakistan PM said dialogue is the only solution to resolve all pending disputes between them, including the long-standing conflict in Jammu & Kashmir.
Even as Khan pitched for resolution of all issues, he stressed specifically on Kashmir, reported a leading English daily which accessed the content of the Pakistani PM's message to Modi. The letter, notably, has not been released in public domain. Imran Khan Wants Narendra Modi to Win Lok Sabha Elections, Here's Why
The letter is is contrast to the one sent by Khan in September 2018, when he had pitched for dialogue on all issues "including terrorism". His forthcoming pitch on resolving terror had compelled India to agree for the foreign ministers' meeting on the sidelines of UNGA. The meet was later cancelled by New Delhi due to border turbulence in days leading to the talks.
According to TOI, Khan's fresh letter to Modi came in response to the greetings sent by the Indian PM to people of Pakistan on March 23, when the Pakistan Day is celebrated in the neighbouring nation.
Modi, in his Pakistan Day message, had pitched for a democratic, prosperous and progressive South Asia, while calling for the elimination of "violence and terrorism".
Khan had recently made headlines in India after he told the Pakistani media that the re-election of Modi would give Islamabad a better opportunity to resolve all pending disputes with New Delhi and finalise a long-lasting solution for Kashmir.
