Patna, August 29: A post-graduate engineer from IIT Bombay has taken up the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Group D job in Dhanbad. Shravan Kumar, an IIT Mumbai graduate, has taken up the track maintenance job in the Dhanbad railway division. He had joined IIT-Mumbai in 2010 and completed the course in 2015. "I got the railway job through competitive examination. I joined my post on July 30". I always wanted to become a government servant due to job security. I am hopeful that one day I would become an officer," said Shravan. He has been posted at Chandrapura under Public Works Inspector (PWI), Telo and looks after the track maintenance between Chandrapura and Telo section. His job includes a manual inspection of the tracks.
The Group D job requires an educational qualification of only passing class 10 and pays just 3 lakhs per annum. The only reason why he took up this job is looking at the safety and security that a government job offers.
