Mumbai, June 1: In a bizarre incident, a street food vendor in Mumbai was caught preparing food by using water from the toilet of a railway station. In the video that went viral on social media, the Idli vendor is seen using tap water from a toilet at Borivali railway station to make 'chutney'. The video has been widely circulated on social media and has raised concerns over the safety of food being sold by such vendors who sell food on streets.

In the 45-second long video, a hawker who runs an idli stall on the pavement is seen fetching water from a toilet to prepare the chutney, which is served as an accompaniment to the idli. The video however, doesn't affirm the time or date of the incident. Borivali Becomes First Railway Station in Mumbai With Braille-Friendly Platform Indicator.

As soon as the incident came to light, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has initiated an inquiry. It has also issued a public warning against usage of such water, which could be contaminated. Shailesh Adhav, FDA, Mumbai, said, "The video has come to our knowledge. We will conduct an enquiry against him as well as others who use such methods to do business. Such water is not healthy for consumption. People may get affected."

According to a report by ANI, Adhav said when the person is caught his license will be checked and if any sample is found, it will be seized.  Adhav, however, asserted that the short-video needs to be probed further to decisively conclude about the place of incident and time.
