A similar incident was reported in June where an IAF pilot dropped fuel tanks of his aircraft after one of the engines failed after being hit by a bird. Reports inform that the IAF Jaguar pilot jettisoned fuel tanks of his aircraft and managed to land back safely at the Ambala air base in Haryana.
Here's the tweet:
Reports inform that small practice bombs jettisoned by the Jaguar aircraft were also recovered. It must be noted that due to the higher fuel consumption of the aircraft, it carries fuel drop tanks to have access to fuel supply.
Till date, the IAF has lost nearly 10 aircraft this year, the latest being an AN-32, whose wreckage was spotted last month in a heavily- forested mountainous terrain in Arunachal Pradesh.
