IAF Strikes in Balakot: Pakistan Army Violates Ceasefire Using Tanks in Sialkot Sector

Srinagar, February 27: A day after the Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted strikes on Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camps in Balakot across the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistan army resorted to ceasefire violation in Sialkot sector, Punjab. Pakistani troops reportedly used tanks on LoC and the international border. Punjab state shares a 553km-long border with Pakistan. Indian army was retaliating strongly and effectively.

Hours after the IAF air strikes in Balakot, Pakistani troops started firing on the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu districts on Tuesday, triggering a gunfight as Indian troops retaliated. Five Indian soldiers were injured in Keri Bhattal area in the Akhnoor sector of the LoC in Jammu district in the ceasefire violation. Two injured soldiers were shifted to a hospital for treatment, while other three injured only sustained minor injuries. Jammu & Kashmir: Two Terrorists Gunned Down in Encounter in Shopian, Search Operation Underway.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan violated ceasefire in Akhnoor, Nowshera and Krishna Ghati sectors of the LoC around 5:30 pm using heavy mortars and small arms to target Indian positions, Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand told news agency IANS. The multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the LoC came on a day the Indian Air Force carried out strikes on a Jaish-e-Mohammed training camp in Balakot. IAF Strikes in Pakistan: 'Highest Alert' in Delhi, Mumbai and 5 Other Cities; Security Increased at Defence Installations.

Twelve days after a suicide bombing in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama by a JeM terrorist, India on early Tuesday struck the JeM's biggest training camp at Balakot, killing "a very large number" of terrorists and their trainers. Foreign Secretary Vijay K. Gokhale told the media "in an intelligence-led operation in the early hours of Tuesday, IAF struck the biggest training camp of JeM in Balakot."
