IAF Mirage 2000 Crash: Black Box to Be Sent to France to Know Exact Details and Cause of Mishap
Two IAF pilots including Squadron Leaders 31-year-old Siddhartha Negi and 33-year-old Samir Abrol lost their lives in the Mirage 2000 aircraft crash at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Airport in Bengaluru on February 1.
New Delhi, February 6: Days after Mirage 2000 trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Bengaluru, the IAF has said that it will send the crashed Mirage 2000 black box to France to know the exact details of the mishap. Two IAF pilots including Squadron Leaders 31-year-old Siddhartha Negi and 33-year-old Samir Abrol lost their lives in the Mirage 2000 aircraft crash at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Airport in Bengaluru on February 1. Reports informed that though the pilots made a bid to eject, they were caught in the flames as the plane crashed with a huge explosion. The plane went up in flames as it crashed with an explosion. Thick smoke billowed from the spot, leaving passersby and residents living around the airport in a shock. As soon as the crash was reported, firefighters and the ground staff at the HAL airport swung into action to douse the flames.

According to a report by PTI, a police official said that the body of one the pilots was completely charred while the second pilot was rushed to the Command hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. On Tuesday, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the families of both IAF pilots to offer condolences.
