Kolkata, August 12: After the horrific incident of murder and rape by a trainee doctor at the RG Kar Hospital, another woman doctor at a government hospital in West Bengal was allegedly threatened with rape and murder by a patient who is also a civic volunteer. "You know what happened at RG Kar Hospital? I will do it here," the accused threatened to repeat the sexual assault and murder of a medical trainee at a Kolkata hospital if he didn't receive proper treatment. Doctors and nurses at Bhatar Hospital protested on Saturday, August 10 leading to the accused's arrest.

According to a report by NDTV, the patient, identified as Susanta Roy, is a civic volunteer, according to a district official. On Friday night, the accused, drunk, visited Bhatar State General Hospital in Purba Bardhaman district for treatment. A district health official said that the patient allegedly warned the attending doctor that if he wasn't treated properly, she would face the same consequences as the woman doctor at R.G. He also mentioned that on Sunday, the doctors approached the Chief Medical Officer of Health, demanding the man be punished and calling for enhanced security for healthcare staff.
