Hyderabad, September 15: Telangana's Hyderabad police recently arrested a 34-year-old hostel operator in connection with the murder of his brother-in-law. The accused, who was arrested from Gachibowli, has been accused of killing his brother-in-law and trying to pass the alleged murder as a suicide. Besides the main accused, the police also arrested two others for carrying out the crime.
The main accused has been identified as Gogula Srikanth. During the probe, cops learned that Srikanth was allegedly addicted to online betting, reports The Hindu. However, they also found that Srikanth wanted to kill his brother-in-law, Yashwanth (25), as he was facing major losses due to betting. The accused wanted to kill Yashwanth to get access to his assets, which he could use to fund his betting addiction. Accused Hires Two Men for INR 10 Lakh to Kill His Brother-In-Law
To execute his plan, Srikanth hired two people who were later identified as Puliashramane Anand (35) and Ambati Venkatesh (23). A police official said that the accused hired the two people for INR 10 lakh and ordered them to kill Yashwanth. The alleged murder took place on September 2 when Yashwanth, who was staying in the hostel operated by Srikanth, was allegedly strangled to death by the two accused.
Accused Tried to Pass Murder as Suicide Case
After killing Yashwanth, Anand and Venkatesh reportedly tied a chunni around his neck and hanged his body to the ceiling fan to pass the murder as a case of suicide. However, Srikanth's plan took a hit when Yashwanth's father grew suspicious about his son's suicide and lodged a police complaint. Acting on the complaint, the police scanned CCTV footage and also inquired with the hostel inhabitants. Following this, they zeroed down on Srikanth, who, during interrogation, confessed to his involvement in Yashwanth's murder. Srikanth also told cops that he hired two assassins to execute his plan and kill Yashwanth.
