Mumbai, August 20: The Hyderabad police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly killing his minor daughter in the city. The accused reportedly killed his eight-year-old daughter by slitting her throat. Police officials said the accused tried to pass off the murder case as an accident to make his wife suffer. Cops said the accused took the drastic step as he did not want his wife to live happily with their daughter.

After being arrested, the accused confessed to his crime during police custody. According to a report in the Times of India, the accused, identified as Chandrasekhar, reportedly picked up his daughter on Friday afternoon from school in BHEL township. After driving for nearly 10 minutes, the accused slit his daughter's throat with a blade. The incident occurred on Friday night when a car allegedly hit a road divider in Koheda. When locals rushed to the spot to rescue the passengers, they found a girl in a school uniform lying unconscious in the car and bleeding profusely. The locals caught hold of Chandrasekhar and immediately alerted the cops.

By the time cops reached the spot, the girl had passed away. Cops noticed a cut on the girl's neck. Speaking about the incident, a police officer said, "It was in his effort to dispose of the body quickly, he got on to the Outer Ring Road and was driving aimlessly. The officer also said that the accused was trying to dispose of his daughter's body when the accident occurred. Cops are trying to ascertain if the accused purposely committed the accident to show his daughter's death as an accident.
