Hyderabad, November 5: In an unfortunate incident in Telangana, a six-year-old student of a government primary school in Hyderabad died after the school gate crashed on him. The student is said to have died on Monday, November 4, after the main gate of the school fell on him in Hayathnagar. After the incident, police officials said that the gate was installed only a few months ago. The deceased student has been identified as Alakanti Ajay.

According to a report in The Times of India, the class 1 student and other children were reportedly swinging on the gate after school hours when the seven-foot metal structure allegedly came off the hinges and crashed on them. Cops said that Ajay got trapped under the gate and suffered severe injuries to his head. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital and later to a government hospital at Vanasthalipuram, where he succumbed to his injuries. Telangana Shocker: Elderly Woman Gored to Death, 20 Others Injured After Cow Runs Amok in Kaghaznagar.

Besides Ajay, the other students who were swinging the gate escaped unhurt. After his son's death, Ajay's father approached the police and lodged a case against the school. During the preliminary investigation, cops learned that Ajay's parents were working with GHMC garbage collection vehicles. They also said that they will probe the case based on the evidence, post-mortem examination report and other findings.

Meanwhile, officials of the education department confirmed the incident and assured that they would prove the case independently and take necessary action. It was also found that there were no teachers when the gate crashed on the students. P Suseendra Rao, district education officer of Ranga Reddy, also said that bystanders, parents and auto-rickshaw drivers recorded videos while the gate lay on top of Ajay for a few minutes. Hyderabad Shocker: Man Stabs Dog Multiple Times and Throws Body From 2-Storey Building After Stray Animal Bites Son While Bursting Firecrackers in Jummerath Bazar; Accused Arrested.

He further said that a few teachers came to Ajay's aid and lifted the gate. "But perhaps it was too late by then. We will look into the incident and initiate an inquiry accordingly," Rao added.
