Hyderabad, July 30: A businessman in Hyderabad was abducted and his family had to pay Rs one crore as a ransom to the kidnappers for his release. The kidnapping took place after 11 pm on Sunday. The businessman, identified as Gajendra Parakh, was kidnapped by four masked men and was kept in a godown during his captivity.
The kidnappers asked Gajendra Parakh's family to pay Rs three crore for his release. They had also threatened to kill him if his family did not pay up. The businessman's family, however, managed to cough up Rs one crore for his ransom. Subsequently, Gajendra Parakh was released on Monday. It is not clear whether the family had informed the police about Gajendra Parakh's abduction. The police have now launched an investigation into the case. CCTV footages from cameras installed where Gajendra Parakh was abducted are being analysed to know the exact sequence of events. But the identities of the kidnappers remained unknown. The incident has left businessmen in Hyderabad worried about their safety. "It was Gajendra today. It could be any of us tomorrow. We need to do something. We can't constantly live in fear," Gajendra Parakh's friend, also a businessman, was quoted as saying.
