Hoshiarpur Land Scam: Enforcement Directorate Attaches Property Worth Rs 37 Crore Of Five Accused
The enforcement directorate (ED) has ordered to attach properties worth Rs 37 crore owned by five main accused including three Hoshiarpur-based SAD leaders in the in the Rs 58-crore Hoshiarpur land scam.
Jalandhar, September 20:The enforcement directorate (ED) has ordered to attach properties worth Rs 37 crore owned by five main accused including three Hoshiarpur-based SAD leaders in the in the Rs 58-crore Hoshiarpur land scam. The provisional attachment order has been issued by ED’s Jalandhar Zonal Office. The properties of SAD leaders are Satwinder Pal Singh Dhath, Avtar Singh Johal, and Harpinder Singh Gill and local businessmen Parteek Gupta and Jaswinderpal Singh have been attached under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
According to reports, sixty properties belonging to the accused, including 54 vacant plots, three business premises and three houses have been attached. In the investigation, it was found that sale-purchase of the land by the private persons being allowed in the notified area. It also came to light during the investigation that private parties named in the FIR were paid excessive and excess compensation by the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition. The compensation was against the acquisition of land on residential rates even though the type of land mentioned in the notifications was agricultural. The ED’s Jalandhar Zonal Office took the investigation in the case on the basis of case FIR registered by Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, under Prevention of Corruption Act in February 2017. The alleged land scam happened in 2016 when the land was acquired for the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur four-laning project.
