Vijayawada, October 31: Tamil Nadu Express enroute Delhi was halted for nearly two hours on the outskirts of Vijayawada after an unidentified miscreant made a call that explosives were placed in the train. The incident took place today morning at 3 am. After the hoax call, police and railway authorities arrived at the stop and searched the train for two hours and declared it as a prank, reported the New Indian Express. The Tamil Nadu Express was stopped at Guntur district's Krishna Canal junction, which was just a few minutes away from Vijayawada Junction. The search operations were carried by nearly 200 police personnel belonging to Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), along with them five bomb disposal squads also searched but no bomb was found. Later, it was declared as a hoax call and train left for New Delhi as usual. A case has been registered against the unidentified man for creating the ruckus.
Earlier this month, a 27-year-old man from Chennai, identified as Praveen Kumar came up with a strange technique to not miss the train. Realising he woke up late, he allegedly made a hoax call to Police control room, to reach the station on time. He told police that he heard some men talking about the bomb being planted in Koval Express. Later the bomb squad and police carried out search operation and found that its a hoax call. Later, Kumar was arrested and a case was registered under the relevant sections of IPC.
