Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Chief Syed Salahuddin’s Son Shakeel Arrested From Rambagh in Srinagar
It must be noted that Shakeel is the second son of Salahudin. The probe agency last year arrested Syed Shahid, in money laundering case and he is lodged in Tihar jail, Delhi.
Mumbai, August 30: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) along with CRPF and local police of Jammu and Kashmir arrested Shakeel, the son of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin on Thursday. According to reports, the NIA and local police raided the residence of Syed Shakeel Ahmad in Rambagh and arrested him. Salahuddin, 71, is the head of the Kashmiri militant group, Hizbul Mujahideen and is recently designated as global terrorist by the US state department.
Reports inform that Shakeel is the second son of Salahuddin and works as a medical assistant at Srinagar's Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences. Reports inform that his second son, Javed Yusuf works as a computer operator at Soibugh's zonal education office. Salahuddin’s wife, his five sons and two daughters live in Kashmir.
Earlier in June, the NIA had issued summons to Shakeel, the eldest son of the globally wanted terrorist Syed Salahuddin, in connection with a 2011 terror-funding case. Reports informed that Yousuf did not show up for questioning, a day after he was served the summons.
On Wednesday, a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander and his associate were killed in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, police said. The two were killed in the Khanabal area gun battle. Sources identified the top Hizbul commander as Altaf Ahmad Dar alias Altaf Kachroo and his associate as Umar Rashid.
