New Delhi, November 13: Fresh snowfall of the season draped Himachal Pradesh's Solang Valley in a white blanket on Tuesday. The snowfall in the region came as a pleasant surprise for all the tourists as they were overjoyed by the picturesque site. The Meteorological Department on Sunday had informed that snow and rain may occur at some places in Himachal Pradesh from November 11 to 14.
High-altitude areas of Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba, Mandi, Kullu, Kinnaur and Shimla districts have also been experiencing cold weather conditions. The fresh snowfall in the hill state are a result of the western disturbance. The changing weather conditions may also lead to light to moderate rainfall along with snowfall at isolated places in the state. Manmohan Singh, Director, Meteorological Centre, Shimla was quoted by PTI saying that the Kullu district administration has already sounded an alert in view of the forecast. Earlier this month, Kangra Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar had also appealed to the public to avoid going to high reaches in view of the prediction of snowfall and rainfall in the next 24 hours.
In the wake of the snowfall in several areas, the Chamba administration has also issued an alert about heavy to very heavy snowfall in the Bharmour region of the district. In case of emergency, the district disaster management authority (DDMA) can be contacted on toll-free number '1077', the official added.
