Heavy rains continued to lash Himachal Pradesh since the last week. Roads remained shut for traffic during the weekend. Travellers were stranded with the worst affected being Sirmaur and Kullu districts. According to a report by private weather agency Skymet Weather, the hills of North India have been seeing rains of varied intensity for the past few days. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh also saw some three-digit rains making appearances in the past few days.
According to a release by the MeT department on Monday, the hills of Himachal Pradesh have been witnessing subdued rainfall activity days after heavy showers led to an abnormal rise in the water levels of most of the rivers. Most of the rivers in the state that were in spate have started seeing a slight decline in the water levels.
Reports inform that from the Hathnikund barrage, excess water was released into the river over the last three days. This has led to flooding in downstream villages and posing threat of inundation in the national capital. "There was no heavy rainfall in the state in the past 24 hours and precipitation only occurred at a few places," a Met official was quoted by IANS.
