Himachal Pradesh: Tourist Destinations Record Sub Zero Temperatures, Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti Shivers at -15 Degree Celsius

In the last 24 hours, Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti shivered at -15.0 degrees Celsius, Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded -8.4 degrees Celsius, Dalhousie recorded -2.4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, several tourist hotspots including Manali, Kufri and Dalhousie looked picturesque.

Shimla, January 19: Parts of Himachal Pradesh, especially the tourist destinations in the hill state, continued to reel under severe cold wave conditions, with mercury dipping to sub zero temperatures. According to a tweet by ANI, in the last 24 hours, Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti  shivered at -15.0 degrees Celsius, Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded -8.4 degrees Celsius, Dalhousie recorded -2.4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, several tourist hotspots including Manali, Kufri and Dalhousie looked picturesque. Manali recorded -4.4 degrees Celsius, Kufri recorded -5.0 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.

The MeT centre has forecast rain, snowfall in middle and high hills as well as thudershowers in the plains and low hills of the state from January 20 to 23. Shimla Met Centre director Manmohan Singh informed that on Saturday, Kinnaur’s Kalpa received 24.4 cm snowfall in last 24 hours, Besides, Dalhousie got 4 mm rain, followed by Manali (2 mm) and Chamba (1 mm).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted widespread rain or snow over the western Himalayan region during January 20-21 as a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan region and plains of northwest India. The weather agency has also predicted dense to very dense fog in some pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Madhya Pradesh and dense fog in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan Odisha and East Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours.
