Shimla, October 23: A paraglider from Singapore, who crash-landed in the Dhauladhar mountains overlooking Himachal Pradesh's Palampur Valley, was found dead on Tuesday. His body has been retrieved and sent for post-mortem, said Baijnath Sub Divisional Magistrate Vikas Shukla.

The deceased, identified as 53-year-old Kok Choonk Na, had went missing on Monday. He had taken off from Bir-Billing, but was shortly flown to the other side of the mountain due to the strong winds. Helicopters were deployed to locate his body since the early hours of the day. After autopsy, his mortal remains would be handed over to the bereaved family, which is expected to reach Shimla at the earliest.

Meanwhile, another paraglider, identified as a Spanish citizen Jos Lewis, also went missing on Monday. He was located alive today. While the security forces are yet to air-lift him, food, water and warm clothes have been dropped near the location where he was spotted.

Reports said that Lewis had crash-landed on a hill between 4747-meter high Thamsar Pass and Bara-Bhangal village, and has suffered injuries on his leg.

The Bir-Billing Valley has attracted free-flyers from across the globe as the region would be holding the Paragliding Pre-World Cup from October 27 to November 3.

Four accidents have been reported so far, triggering concern among the authorities. While Choonk Na and Lewis crash-landed on Monday, a similar fate was met by a Russian and a Latvian paraglider who had fallen in Mandi district earlier in the month. The duo were saved by locals, and are currently being treated at a local hospital for injuries.
