Chamba, August 26: After heavy rains lashed Himachal Pradesh on Sunday night, a bridge was washed away in flash floods in Chamba district, which led to the suspension of Manimahesh pilgrimage. The yatra was suspended temporarily until the bridge is restored. The bridge near Bharngala Nala is the only connectivity between Hudsar and Bharmour. Himachal Pradesh Rains: More Than 300 Vehicles Stuck After Roads Get Blocked Due to Landslides.

SP, Kangra, Vimukt Ranjan said, “A bridge near Bharngala Nala connecting Hudsar to Bharmour has been washed away following rains. It is the only route to Manimahesh. Efforts are being made to restore the bridge. The yatra will conclude on September 6 on the occasion of Radhastami. The Manimahesh Lake is situated 26 km from Bharmour in Budhil valley, an important pilgrimage spot in Himachal Pradesh. The lake is situated at an altitude of 13,000 feet. Every year during August/September, thousands of pilgrims flock the lake to take a dip and to have a glimpse of Mount Kailash.

Earlier in the day, a video surfaced from Chamba district of the state, in which a car crossed a makeshift bridge made of iron poles after the road was damaged in Drekari area due to heavy rains. The video went viral on social media. The incident took place on August 22.
