Himachal Pradesh Rains: Landslides and Flash Floods Block Highways, Heavy Downpour Kills 2 People; IMD Predicts More Rainfall
With heavy downpour lashing the Himalayan state for the past few days, a portion of the road in Balichowki area of Mandi district got damaged. As per to the official report, two people have lost their lives in Himachal Pradesh - one woman from Solan district while another incident was reported from Kangra district.

According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy to heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at isolated places are likely over on Sunday. Due to Saturday rainfall, Mandi-Jogindernagar highway was closed for traffic. Also, National Highway 5 was blocked after landslides triggered by heavy rains hit Ribba area in Kinnaur. Apart from landslides and heavy rainfalls, the major concerning matters are falling boulders and flash floods, which have till now blocked 323 roads across Himachal Pradesh till Saturday, reports TOI. Along with this, landslides have so far hampered 68 roads across the state and the maximum 47 blockades were in Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh.
In the sad incident, two people lost their lives. Reports state that one woman died after falling into Sarsa river at Sainj Majra Baddi in Solan district, while the other person drowned in Kangra district. With all the rivers flowing above the danger mark, the administration had asked people to remain cautious and not to go near the rivers.
The Bhakhra Beas Management Board (BBMB) authorities on Saturday opened the gates after issuing an alert in Mandi and Kangra districts, as the water level reached 1674.59 feet on Saturday. The BBMB also released about 19,000 cusec water. Till now, Kangra district received at 118 mm, followed by Dharamshala 115 mm, while Dalhousie in Chamba district recorded 73 mm. Minumum rainfall was witnessed in Mandi at 3.1 mm.
